Stewardship

Rush Ranch stewardship The San Francisco Bay NERR currently relies on our partner organizations, China Camp State Park and the Solano Land Trust, to provide stewardship of the reserve land and to advise us on how to build our stewardship program. The stewardship programs within other National Estuarine Research Reserves involve a range of activities including land acquisition, habitat mapping, ecological restoration, resource inventories, biological monitoring, watershed management projects, endangered species protection, prescribed fire management, recreation management, regional planning, policy development and more. In addition to being good stewards of the land and water encompassed within the reserves, NERRS programs complete research that leads to better understanding of best management practices and education programs to share the results of that research.
